This week, we will just be in Clayton Bay. Andrew had to prepare a few things for his new home. We drove to Bunnings in a town nearby. He needed to buy all the stuff for his kitchen and bathroom. We spent some hours in the shop. They have a very good service here. One employee was advising how to do best and where to find all the stuff. Andrew called his friend Rick. He would come soon with his van, so we could transport all the things back to Clayton Bay.

We spent some time with Marg and Rick in their house. They have a beautiful, spacious house in Victor Harbour with a view of the ocean. Andrew was buying the block with the shed from them last year.

We were heading to a shop to buy laminate for the floor. Andrew chose some greyish laminate, which would fit well. An employee from this company will come on Wednesday to take the measures.

Back in Clayton Bay, Andrew was mowing the lawn on his block. He has an old tractor for this job. We rearranged all the stuff from the car; we would need less for the upcoming trip, not being in the outback. The tent, the tarp, the stretches, tables, and all other stuff would fit more easily this time.

On Wednesday morning, Andrew had an appointment in Willunga with his car mechanic. We started early and arrived at 08:00. The service would take around 4 hours, so we had time to walk towards McLaren Vale. It’s a nice walk in nature on a foot and cycle path. It took us 1 hour to reach Oxenberry Farm, a beautifully located Cafe.

Andrew and I were strolling around in the car. There was a winery and a beautiful beach. They have some of the world’s best wines in this area.

The day before, I was reading that Lily was at Singapore Airport. I knew that she was just in Scotland, but her family’s farm is near Adelaide. Lily is from Australia. I met her in Monchique several times, where she was volunteering at Camilla’s place. So I asked her if she would be back in Adelaide. And yes, she just arrived on Wednesday morning at the farm. So we could meet on Thursday, it’s only a 40-minute drive from Clayton Bay. What a fortune, I mean, Australia is huge, and the chance of being so close is not very high. But life made it possible. We arranged to meet at 13:00 on Thursday.

Clayton Bay

We have been to Clayton Bay on Thursday morning for a shower and to do laundry in the Caravan Park. Andrew’s shower is not working for now, caused to the builder’s work. The plumber will do the job while we are on tour. Around 12:00, we started towards Highland Valley, the place where Lily lives on RollingsView Farm. It was a happy meeting, we had a tea, a lot to chat and Lily was showing us around on the farm. There are some horses and sheep. and a stunning old gum tree.

A beautiful 28-acre farm in Highland Valley. We spent a few hours with Lily, a lot to talk about. Her father was joining us when we came back to the house. She is a very open-minded person, loves travelling, and being in nature. I enjoyed meeting Lily here. We will meet next year in Portugal again.

Late afternoon, we headed back to Clayton Bay, getting some stuff, then driving towards Victor Harbour. We would be there with Rick and Marg and stay overnight. There was a lot of chatting in the evening, and Marg prepared a delicious meal for us. Rick and Marg are wonderful, caring people. I really enjoyed the evening.

Friday morning, Jeff arrived here at Andrew’s block. He is a friend and a painter. So he will do some jobs while Andrew is on tour. Andrew then went off at noon to meet some people. I spent the day writing, booking a flight for the 6th December, and looking for accommodation in Sydney for three nights. I had a good nap in the afternoon after quite a while. Andrew was back before 20:00.

My flight would be from Sydney to Singapore with Scoot Airline, have never heard of. It’s a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. Then from Singapore to Chennai with IndiGo. I booked an Ibis Hotel for three nights in Sydney, before my flight to India.

The last day in Clayton Bay. It was a good week, and we prepared everything for the next tour. In the morning, we went to Bunnings again, the hardware store. Andrew needed some stuff for his new home. He washed the car manually at a car wash. Then we drove to Rick and Marg in Victor Harbor. We all had a nice day together, went to Kings Beach, ate some Pizza, had a coffee, and drove around to other places in the area this afternoon.
