Bom Caminho – 29 km – Vila do Conde

Not an easy day. The host from Albergue Senora da Hora was suggesting to drive by Metro to Matosinhos. This is close to the ocean and maybe I should have walked just along the ocean. Now I know it is called the Litoral route. The Caminho Portugués da Costa is more north. And I went more north first. Was quite a stretch to reach the Caminho.

I just reached the Caminho, first sign

Additionally some hay fever started and my nose was running more or less continuously.

Most of the time I was walking on the road with quite a lot car traffic.

Out of Porto in the end
You don’t see the road on the right side

Somehow it was a long way for the first day. After a while I put my special protectors for my feet on, I still have them from the Camino last year.

When having a rest on the side of a small road two women were passing. She said that many Albergues are booked out, so better to book before. I called the Albergue in Vila do Conde, and yes, booked out.

Also many hotels are booked out here. In this town are many tourists which are not pilgrims. In the end I called B&B Hotels and stay here tonight. Quiet, clean …

So I tried to book something for tomorrow night. The first booking at Sleep&Go in Esposende failed. It seems they don’t exist anymore. Booking.com will pay the money back. I booked another one, will be 27 km tomorrow.

Boa Noite
