Surrender

We need to become zero before becoming full.

Goa is the smallest Indian state. The language here is Konkani. It is located on the central west coast of India, has an area of 3702 square kilometers, and a population of just under 1.5 million. The capital of Goa is Panaji, which was called Pangim by the Portuguese and Panjim by the British. Goa is named after the former city of the same name, now Velha Goa. As part of Portuguese India, the region was a Portuguese colony for around 450 years and therefore has a special cultural character. Hardly any other Indian state has been as culturally influenced by a European colony power as Goa. This is also reflected in the high proportion of Catholics in the population.

After my 20-hour bus trip from Tiruvannamalai via Bangalore, I arrived in Mapusa at 10:00 a.m. I left the bus, got my baggage, and there were already taxi drivers waiting for customers. I got a taxi to Assagao, where my German friend Kabir is living. It was a warm welcome after 10 years. I was lucky that the outside guesthouse is available these days. He has a beautiful big house and garden here in Assagao.

The outside house

We had a lot to share after 10 years. Some other people are here these days. There are two ladies in the upper room, meeting daily their Yoga teacher nearby. And there is Kerry from the U.S.A. He is living in Frankfurt, Germany, and he is in the exhibition business. He and his Indian helper are doing some small constructions in and outside the house. Kabir and Kerry are both Osho Sannyasins like me.

Two Royal Enfield and my scooter

Kabir was organizing a scooter for me. He has all the connections around here. So they came with two scooters and left one here. A nice turquoise scooter with eco mode. He stops the engine when I stop, and just starts with the acceleration. Kabir and Kerry are driving a Royal Enfield.

I unpacked my stuff and was settled already. In this guesthouse or outside house, as Kabir called it, I stayed 10 years ago with my Indian girlfriend Preeti. I have my own bathroom here, so I had a nice hot shower. it was revitalizing after this long bus trip. Kabir said he needed to do some shopping for tomorrow. His daughter and granddaughter will visit, and two other friends. He planned to have brunch the next day.

So we went shopping in Mapusa, there is a supermarket, vegetables you can buy everywhere on the roadside. After shopping we had some lunch at Tulsi Restaurant, a delicious Masala Dosa.

Kabir

Back home, I took a nap—I slept for an hour or so. For dinner, Kabir was cooking something delicious with potatoes and chapati. He has an employee here in the village who works for him. His name is Shivaji. Kerry’s employee was also eating with us. Soon after dinner, Kabir and I had a Meditation. He was reading a chapter from a book by Ram Das. Then there is Tibetan throat singing for 1 hour. After the meditation, I went to my room, watched some stuff on YouTube, and fell asleep later.
