Grace
Grace is the Atmashakti (power of the Self) which gives recognition of the Self, makes one abide in it and destroys the ego completely. The personification of Grace is Guru.
I woke up early as usual. This morning Lal and his driver would pick me up for a tour to the “Sigiriya Lion Rock” and other places. I was talking with Pringi and Manjula for a while in the living room. Lal called me on the phone because they didn’t find the place. Pringi talked to him. Then shortly after 08:00, they arrived. I jumped into the car and our tour started. The first stop was a Buddhist temple.

It will take us around 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach the Sigirya Rock. We had another stop at a place where they are manufacturing elephants, Buddhas, and tables from different kinds of woods.

The next stop was Sigiriya Rock. Sigiriya (also Sigirija, Sinhala සීගිරිය) is a monolith of volcanic origin in the center of the tropical island of Sri Lanka, on which the ruins of a historic rock fortress are located. The name is derived from Singha Giri, which means “lion rock”. In 1982, Sigiriya was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I had to walk up 1200 steps, 200 meters high. Usually one has an amazing overview from the top, but unfortunately, it was quite cloudy today. There is even a water pool on top of the rock.

Sigiriya Lions Rock

In the late fifth century, this Sinhalese prince killed his father, King Dhatusena, and seized the throne, usurping his brother, who fled to India. Fearing reprisals, he built the fortress Sigiriya—but in vain: His brother returned, defeating Kashyapa, and Sigiriya lost its brief status as capital.
During King Kashyapa’s reign (477–495 AD), Sigiriya was developed into a complex city and fortress. Most of the elaborate constructions on the rock summit and around it, including defensive structures, palaces, and gardens, date from this period. The Cūḷavaṃsa describes King Kashyapa as the son of King Dhatusena.
After this adventure, we had some lunch and then started back to Kandy. We stopped at another temple and at “The 100 Spice Garden”. They are planting herbs on 30 hectares here, producing Aryuvedic cosmetics and medicine. It will be exported all over the world.

It was 18:30 when we arrived home in “The Peppermint”. Eugen, a kind man from Romania arrived today. He was here before last year. He just stays one night now and will be back on the 14th Feb. here. We sat on the veranda and talked, Srimal joined us later. Then we had a nice dinner, Pringi prepared everything. It was very delicious with Papadam, Rice, Potatoes, Dal, Beans and more.
I was tired today and fell asleep early. I switched my laptop and the light off later.
