The peace that is present when I am ‘nobody’ can never be experienced when I become ‘somebody’, however great it (‘somebody’) may be.
This morning, I decided to have breakfast at Tasty Cafe. I ordered a cheese-salad sandwich and an Americano. Tasty Cafe is very close to the Ashram, where I go for Satsang with Amma. Enough chairs are available now, even if I come a bit later. More and more people are leaving Tiruvannamalai.
My next plan was to sit a while in the Meditation room of the Ashram. I just wanted to enter when Sarah came out. She was walking up to the caves this morning. We then crossed the street to have a chai when she suggested having a drink at Da Mantra Cafe. So we went there. I have been here only once before for lunch. It’s a beautiful place to sit, and the food is kind of special, as are the prices (for India). We had a coffee and later some lunch and were talking for hours.
I gave Sarah a lift closer to her apartment, then I went back to mine. It was late in the afternoon already when I fell asleep. After my nap I started towards the Ashram. The roads were already full with people walking the Pradakshina. It was not easy to get through and I felt a bit stupid to drive here anyway now. I stopped my scooter in Postoffice Road where I parked. I walked over towards the chai shop. Then it came to my mind that I could walk as well today instead of tomorrow. Back to my scooter, I stored my bag and shoes and started walking barefoot. In the beginning, it was quite easy to talk on the road. I had a sugarcane juice then I bought some popcorn. Later I had a coconut, so I was drinking enough. Halfway through my feet started hurting. I am not used to walking for such a long time barefoot. For Indians it seemed to be no problem. Later in the end it became really difficult to walk, every step was painful. It reminded me of my Camino 2023 in Spain where I had such pain with these bad Chinese shoes the first two weeks. Anyway, I came to the end after four hours of walking. I was happy to sit with my flip flops on my scooter and drive through the backyards towards my apartment. I had a shower and couldn’t walk properly anymore. There are blisters on my feet, what an experience again.
