Another adventure starts today, this time it will be Australia. I am going to meet my friend Andrew. We spent quite some time together on the Camino Frances in 2023. Now it’s time to meet again on the other side of the world.
Davina was so kind to drive me down to the bus station in Monchique at 09:30. The local bus to Portimão would depart at 10:00 and takes 45 minutes. At the bus station was a small electric bus waiting, but three women sitting on a bench informed me that this is not the bus to Portimão, there will be a bigger one at 10:00.
The bus was on time, and at 10:40 we reached the station where I left, just on the roundabout at Aqua Portimão. From here, it was 12 minutes to walk to the bus terminal where my bus to Lisbon would depart at 11:30. The bus arrived and started towards Lisbon. We stopped in Albufeira and had another short stop at a highway Service Station. Then we reached Lisbon-Oriente at 15:00.

I just went to the Metro to continue to São Sebastião, somewhere around my Airbnb accommodation for one night. The check-in was at 18:00, so I had time to stroll around a bit. I had a coffee and a fancy doughnut, and I crossed the road. I am not used to all the noises in a city like Lisbon, coming from the mountains of Monchique. I am glad not to live here.

There was a supermarket. I bought some croissants and a pear for breakfast. Then I was hanging around in a small park, just sitting on a bench, relaxing. Time passed quickly, and I walked 15 minutes towards my accommodation. It was a cheap deal; Ryan is renting out two rooms in his home. But all is good here. I just had a Pizza at the other side of the road and am in my room now. I can see an old Aqueduct from my room. It is one of the most remarkable examples of 18th-century Portuguese. The main engineering course of the aqueduct covers 18 km, but the whole network of canals reaches nearly 58 km.
