Road trip – 86 km – Kings Canyon

Kings Canyon

I slept well last night; it was silent, and the outback is not cold on September nights. At 07:00, we got up, had breakfast, and started towards Kings Canyon. We will stay for two nights in Kings Creek Station as we are going for a walk today. It’s only a 30-minute drive, 38 km towards Kings Canyon. We drove first to Kings Canyon Resort to get some information. They told us about the walking trails and mentioned that to get a Parks pass online, it should be AU$10. We tried to apply, but there were only trails that we wouldn’t go, with overnight camping. So we stopped this process.

We headed on towards Kings Canyon now, just a few kilometers. There was a parking lot and different trails to walk. It would last between 1-4 hours, depending on the route. One route was already closed because it was past 09:00, and it would be too hot to walk. It will be 35 degrees here today. First, we walked the beautiful Kings Creek Trail.

The next walk would be longer and have a steeper section. The Kings Canyon Trail was quite stunning.

In the afternoon, we spent some time in the pool here, in Kings Creek Station. Nice and refreshing. We walked to the reception and Cafe for a drink. The day is passing by nicely, good to have some rest without driving. We mostly wear a net for our heads in daytime, because there are too many flies. Andrew even drinks through his net.

Cheers
