Roadtrip – 197 km – Denmark

Today would be a forest day. It was nice to sleep in a proper bed again. I was researching my Telstra account for mobile data. 28 days have already gone by. After having breakfast, we left the hotel at 09:00. We would pass the valley of the giants today. Our first destination was the Giant Tingle Tree. We had to drive on a dirt road to get there.

It’s a beautiful forest around, most are tingle trees and karre trees. The karri tree (Eucalyptus diversicolor) from Western Australia, one of the tallest tree species in the world.

The big trees here are more than 400 years old.

Here were just a very few people; it felt pretty good being in this old forest. The next stop would be the Tree Top Walk. There is a 500 m walk in the crowns of this forest.

We haven’t decided yet where to stay the night. It could be raining today and the next days. At least drizzling. There were backpacker hostels in Denmark and Albany. I checked them with WikiCamps. They were either closed or had terrible revisions. In Denmark, we walked into one, but the reception was closed until 16:00. Andrew called the number, but nobody answered the phone. So we drove to the Denmark Riversouth Caravan Park. It’s located on a beautiful lake, the Wilson Inlet. We just checked in and found our spot when it started drizzling. We waited in the camp kitchen for a while, having a coffee or beer.

Beautiful birds are around here, I don’t know their names, but they are very trusting.
