Road trip – 524 km – Smoky Bay

It started to rain in the night. I could hear the rain several times, sometimes a little, sometimes stronger. We would have to pack a wet tent in the morning. Andrew has set the alarm at 06:00 because of the time change; it would be 08:30 in Western Australia already. It started raining again after 06:00. We were acting fast to get all the stuff in the car. It worked all well, and we drove in front of the roadhouse. We had a coffee and a toast before we started driving east.
We stopped for another coffee in Yalata, an Aboriginal area. The end of the Nullabor plain.

In Penong, we had to stop. The fruit police wanted to look in our car. It is forbidden to bring any fruits, veggies, or honey into South Australia. He just looked in our fridge, all good. We didn’t tell him about our sweet potato, which we still kept. We decided to continue driving towards Smoky Bay. It was still raining and I booked a Standard Cabin for AU$120 at the Smoky Bay Beachfront Caravan Park. We reached there around 15:00. A good place to relax for the rest of the day and night. It has stopped raining and we walked to the ocean, walking along the jetty. It was quite a heavy wind.
