Road trip – 207 km – Cann River

There was a bit of rain again in the night. I heard Andrew walking out at 06:00. He was soon back and said it’s better to pack now, before there is more rain. So we packed all the gear early. We had breakfast in the camp kitchen. There was a couple we met yesterday, the lady was from Germany. She came to Australia in 1979. We had a chat for a while, then headed towards Lakes Entrance.

Lakes Entrance – On the left is the open sea

We strolled around, had a coffee in town. We are still not lucky with any good weather. Our next stop would be in Marlo. Nothing spectacular, just scenic. I have the feeling we are slowly getting a bit tired of beautiful beaches and other scenic views. When you travel for months every day, it seems to repeat.

The rain got more intense, so we decided to stay in a hotel/motel tonight. We booked into a pub in Cann River.

In the afternoon, Andrew was in the pub, having some beers. I was in the room for a nap. We got a room where two beds were separated by a wall, but without a door. At 18:00, I went downstairs to have some dinner. I had a butter chicken with rice. It wasn’t bad, but not as good as in Warragul, where we had lunch with Annie. I had a game of pinball with Andrew on an old machine. The pub was quite busy with people having dinner or drinks. Andrew stayed in the pub while I was walking back into the room.

I thought it was a good time to apply for my Indian Visa. I will arrive in India in 17 days. It took me three hours to fill out the application form, upload a photo, and a passport. Two or three times, the internet was gone. Telstra sent me an SMS before that they are working on some changes, and there could be a reduction of mobile coverage for short periods. In the end, I was successful. They always have a lot of questions about schooltime, occupations, parents, and other stuff. I paid US$40 and waiting for the approval now.
