Buen Camino – 26 km – Cruces

Leaving Caldas de Reis

When I had dinner yesterday with the Czech people we talked about to meet at 07:15 in the café down the road. I was there, I was the first guest in the café. Gerrit and Sandra came in and bought some Croissants. Martina and Lucie didn’t show up. Instead of the other Martina came in. So I had another coffee, then we slowly prepared to leave. Martina and Lucie came along the road now. We talked for a moment then Martina and me left.

After having coffee, still empty place

So we just walked and talked, it was a perfect day to walk, blue sky, 22 degrees and a little wind. After two hours we came along another Restaurant in a small village. Time to rest ..,

Martina started to arrange her last days in Spain and Portugal online. I continued walking.

It was closed

I crossed a road and went straight on when a farmer and his horse told me to go back and turn right. I missed a yellow arrow.

Mainly forest walk today

There were many biker groups today, so we had to move many times to the side of small paths. It’s getting more busy before Santiago now.

Then I met Anja again, the Bavarian woman, I met some days ago. She stayed in Padron. There are quite some people like me who are walking some kilometers further, so there is less to walk tomorrow.

Reaching Padron

I entered Padron alone, a town with 8.000 people.

Church with cemetery

The churches are most all very old here. They are built with solid granite.

After Padron I met Christiane and Jasmin again. We walked until their Albergue together, I still had two more kilometers to go.

When I came to the Albergue I couldn’t find the entry first, because I came from the other side, not from the Camino, just followed Google maps the last kilometer. A big dog was barking at me behind the fence from the neighbours property. 50 meters more and there was a small door. I didn’t see anybody on the property but an open door. I felt a bit like in a ghost town. There was a reception. I was the only guest for now.

It’s kind of a big hall here

Nobody here yet

By and by some people arrived. First Olaf, a German guy. He just finished Camino Norte and came down from Santiago now, walking towards Porto. Then arrived Deepak and his girlfriend Maria. Deepak is living since one year in Germany. I know him from Vila da Anha, Casa da Catarina, the nice Albergue one week ago. And last not least an American couple from West-Virginia.

I think in Santiago I will meet all again I was in contact during the Caminho.
