Road trip – 39 km – Philip Island
When waking up this morning, we still didn’t know what to do today. Staying one more night in the Holiday Park, get another room there, or set up the tent. The forecast didn’t show rain for today. We thought of setting up the tent for the first time after Border Village. But first, we would stroll around the island.
There is the famous Penguin Parade on Philip Island. The Penguin Parade on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia, is one of the world’s most spectacular wildlife events. It’s a nightly ritual where hundreds of Little Penguins emerge from the ocean and waddle across the beach to their burrows. They would leave in the morning for fishing and come back in the evening to feed their babies.
The Penguin Center would open at 12:00. There was time to drive to the tip of the island. Philip Island has only 101 square kilometers. And here is a stunning coastline.

The Cape Barren Geese are all over the island to find.

Beautiful spot around here. At next we headed to the Penguine Center and had a coffee. There were heaps of parking lots, we couldn’t imagine somany people would come here. But we were informed that 2000 people would be here today. You can buy tickets from AU$33 to more than AU$100 for different places. They blocked the road from sunset to sunrise,so nobody could watch it for free. Such a big business, they are just upgrading the stands to watch the penguins.
On the way back we saw another caravan and campground. We stopped and asked for the price. This place was far more beautiful than the Holiday Park where we have been last night. We booked in, then went for shopping to Cowes, the Capital Town on Philip Island. It will be the first night in a tent again…
