Patterns of Mind

Holding on to anything (with the mind) is of the past. The Truth is always in the present.

Today is Maha Shivaratri. Maha Shivaratri is a Hindu festival celebrated annually in honor of the deity Shiva, between February and March. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival is observed on the fourteenth day of the first half (night starts with darkness – waning) of the lunar month of Phalguna. The festival commemorates the wedding of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion that Shiva performs his divine dance, called the Tandava.

Yes, there is a lot of holy stuff going on in India. It is also the last day of Prayag Maha Kumbh Mela. 400.000.000 people are joining this event within six weeks.

Prayag Maha Kumbh Mela is the current iteration of the Kumbh Mela, a Hindu pilgrimage festival marking a full orbital revolution of Jupiter around the Sun. It is scheduled from 13 January to 26 February 2025, at the Triveni Sangam in PrayagrajUttar Pradesh, India. It is the world’s largest gathering, according to official data released on 12 February, 48.83 million people have taken a dip in the river so far. This event marks the completion of a 12-year Kumbh Mela cycle and is officially termed a Maha Kumbh Mela, spanning 45 days.

I just joined Satsang with 100 – 150 people. In the first part, there were questions, in the last part, we were singing and chanting.

I stopped at Tasty Cafe for an omelet and coffee. There were more people than usual, maybe because of the time, around 11:00.

Back in my apartment, I finished the booking for Rishikesh. I Found a nice accommodation, Hotel Asha Delight. It has a rating of 9.5 and the reviews say it has European standards. It is not the cheapest but hopefully with clean bedsheets and a working shower. It’s just 10 walking minutes from Ambara‘s hotel.

I still have to book a place in Osho Gangadham. I plan to stay for seven nights as well. There will be a schedule of different Meditations throughout the day.

Daily meditation schedule :
(i) Dynamic meditation – 06:15 to 07:30
(ii) Dance meditation – 10:30 to 11:30
(iii) Kundalini meditation – 15:45 to 17:00
(iv) Evening satsang – 18:00 to 19:30

Later I spent some time in the Ashram, which was quite populated due to Maha Shivaratri. They have a lot of festivals and celebrations in India. I wasn’t sure where to have dinner today, I thought about “The Inner Child Restaurant”, but was entering the wrong road. I changed my mind about German Cafe. Nearly there it didn’t feel right anymore and I drove direction to Perumpakkam Road where I live. I stopped at Sathy’s. And yes, there was Pizza Night, the perfect choice. A guy joined me on the table, his name is Pete and he is from Scotland. Nice guy, we have very much in common, our life journey. He was in India for the first time in 1973. Pete was managing the Findhorn Foundation, a commune in Scotland. I have heard many good things about it. Since Corona’s time in 2020, it has not been as active as it was before. Sarah joined our table, as well as Jonatan, I didn’t know her from before. She is an English Lady. Finishing our Pizza Jonatan and Pete left to have a look at the people doing the Pradakshina. I had a nice talk with Sarah for quite a while.
