Road trip – 0 km – Kalgoorlie
It was refreshing to sleep in a proper bed. It was dark and quiet in the night. I woke up at 07:00 and had time to read and write. No rush today reaching somewhere. It was raining this morning. The forecast said it would be raining today and tomorrow, on Monday. It would be a quiet day, not really much to do. There would be a horse race today, but it’s too rainy. Also, watching them play Two-Up would not happen. So we spent time talking and hanging around. Sam arrived with two beautiful dogs this morning. He is still living here in the house with his parents.

Early afternoon, I left with Andrew for lunch. We drove to the Exchange Hotel, kind of a Western Saloon and Restaurant, where the bartenders are Skimpies. “Skimpies” in Australia are female bartenders who serve drinks while wearing lingerie or bikinis, a service primarily found in country and mining town pubs.

It was still raining, so we drove around the town for a while. There is a Gold museum, but it will close at 15:00, so we will go there tomorrow. Then we stopped at IGA (Independent Grocers of Australia), which is a supermarket chain in Australia. Got some coffee, muesli, and other stuff. You don’t get alcohol in supermarkets in Australia; there are always extra shops for that. I am not drinking alcohol anymore, but Andrew does, so we stopped at one of these shops where he could get some wine and beer.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a city in Western Australia with a population of around 30,800. It emerged from the twin towns of Kalgoorlie and Boulder, both of which developed as mining towns on the Golden Mile.
I was tired and had a nap late afternoon. Sam would get us some Pizza later. We had our Pizza dinner and just relaxed the rest of the day.
