Buen Camino – 18 km – Santiago de Compostella

Leaving Cruces

What an amazing day. After this strange experience in the Albergue in Cruces, I was happy to start the walk. Olaf left just before me, direction Porto. Deepak and Maria were still preparing.

17 km left from here

I was in nature, passing a small village, and then stood by the side to read some messages. There was a message from Amy, the American woman I met last year on the Camino Francés. She and her daughter Abbey were always a day ahead of me and took the spiritual boot trip to Padron. Suddenly somebody spoke to me and they were just behind me, staying last night in an Albergue close to mine. What a meeting on the last day.

It was a short and fast walk on the last day.

Coming closer to Santiago
Left or Right?

We choose left.

Old town in front of us

From the south we reached the cathedral much faster than last year from east.

Never finish the Camino alone.

The three of us

After receiving our Compostella in the office we went for lunch with some other pilgrims. Then I checked in in the biggest Albergue ever.

Nice style inside

I had a nap and then contacted Martina. She was in the same Albergue. She didn’t have lunch, so we went out again. I had just a nice dessert, chocolate brownie with ice-cream.

At 07:00 I was in the cathedral enjoying the mass. After the mass I met Amy and others again for an Italian dinner.

It was fun and got late. We said goodbye and I went back to my Albergue. In a small road a Spanish woman tried to park her car into the garage, it was really tight. She said she had a smaller car before and asked me to help her. The car was already a bit damaged in the front and side. So I parked it. Late night action 😄

There is no such place like an ending, just where you leave the story.

  1. It was lovely to read about your great caminho and the nice people you met every day Chandresh! Thank you for sharing it and making the effort to write your blog and share the beautiful photographs too! Hope this caminho will also be lasting and special memory for you. Wishing you much happiness and all the best on your journey. And see you again sometime.

    • Thanks dear Dineke, it was again an inspiring Caminho this time. I guess I will walk some more sooner or later. It’s a good opportunity of being in the moment and always kind of an adventure as well. You never know what will happen next.
We will meet somewhere again. Big hug, Chandresh
