Patterns of Mind
Inside and outside exist only to the body or mind, which act as reference points. When there is no reference point, where is inside and where is outside?
I still woke up slightly puzzled about yesterday’s experience, the lady who distracted me from Meditation, and the lost Flip Flops. Sometimes just small things can bring you out of balance. At least I am aware of it, so I just have to observe it, as I am watching from the outside. Who am I?
I left early to the Ashram, maybe I would find my flip-flops in the shoe rack, there are not many people in the Ashram early. But they were gone. It’s not a big deal, I will get some new ones today. Alex saw recently how a lady put her two shoes in different places, that’s a good idea, nobody will take just one shoe. I was sitting in Samadhi Hall when the morning Chanting of the Vedas started. It was very relaxing and my inner state was back to silence.
I left the Ashram and walked over the road to have a chai. There were some beggars, asking for money or chai. I gave a little money to an old man who hardly could walk, one gentleman offered chai to another beggar. Around the Ashram there are so many beggars, it’s the best chance getting some money as there are so many visitors, Indians and foreigners.
Time for Satsang. Before entering the Ashram, it just opened the door at 08:45, I was talking to Shankar, he always takes care of the parking for bikes. An Asian gentleman joined us and gave me a little fruit, I forgot the name, he was picking it from a tree. He said that it is bitter in the beginning, but when chewing it for a while it will get sweeter. I tried it later in my room and it is true. In Satsang, there was 45 minutes of silence, when a gentleman asked the first question. He said he is a coach and he and his wife are on their spiritual journey, but many people around them are not. Amma said that it is not the time for everybody yet, people are in different stages in their lives. There is no need to argue, but it can make us stronger about ourselves, just trust.
As I didn’t eat since last lunch with Dani and Alex in the German Cafe, I was quite hungry. I drove towards
the city to buy some flip-flops first. I parked my scooter near Saatvik Restaurant and walked along the road when I suddenly saw a shop with shoes. I went in, the guy showed me different models and I found some brown and soft ones from Bata, 390 rupees (€4,15), a bit more than I paid in Goa, but they are a better quality. Then I had a special Thali in Saatvik Restaurant. The lady working there told me that she has pain in her legs for the last two days. She is quite overweight, 36 years old, and has a daughter of 18 and a son of 12 years. Sometimes people are just sharing their stories with me.
On the way back, I got greedy about buying some Indian sweets, I had the last ones in Goa. I didn’t eat sweets or biscuits for quite a while now, just ice-cream here and then. I saw a shop on the way before, so I stopped there. But the quality didn’t look so good, I decided not to buy.
My stomach was full from the Thali, still I fell asleep for two hours. Waking up, I was working for a while on my laptop. I left for the Ashram to meditate for a while in the Meditation Hall. It was not very crowded, but people are entering and leaving all the time. Anyway, it is a quiet place and Bhagawan Sri Ramama Maharshi was meditating here. After that, I left and bought an ice-cream nearby. At one place, the Indian guy was asking for 80 rupees for his coconuts, I don’t know why, maybe another quality? Here are lots of coconuts around, you get them for 30-40 rupees (32-43 cents).

I bought three of these round fried balls and drove back to my apartment. Didn’t feel like joining Pizza at Sathya’s, today is Wednesday. I was happy in my room, working, reading and watching movies.
