Road trip – 60 km – Eagle Point><Bairnsdale
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu
It was drizzling a bit when I woke up at 06:00 this morning. Nothing to worry about, the tent wouldn’t get too wet. At least the strong wind stopped last evening. We paid for another night and started our day trip after breakfast. At first, we drove to Paynesville. There would be a water taxi to Raymond Island.

It only takes five minutes to cross the water. The island is pretty small, but it has some koalas to see. We strolled around, saw a few koalas, and went to the water.

Back in Paynesville, we had to decide where to go next. There is a river nearby in Bairnsdale. Just 11 km to go. We strolled along the river for a while, then turned back. In Bairnsdale, we had a coffee before we headed towards River Cottage Eagle Point. It’s a narrow strip between the Mitchell River and the ocean. One can drive towards the tip of this piece of land. There were thousands of birds on the river.

Beautiful, peaceful part of the world around here. We sat for quite a while, just watching nature.
