Road trip – 393- km – Pimba

The first night was pretty hard for both of us. It was cold, and we needed a better mat to sleep on. We will change something for the second night. Around 01:00, I woke up and needed to pee; it was chilly outside. When back, I got into my hoodie and long pants.

After packing the tent and all the stuff into the car, we had some coffee and breakfast. Then we started our second day with driving. We stopped in Melrose later for a short break when we saw a building that seemed to be a museum. It was a Courthouse and Police Station from 1862.

For a few bucks, we could enter and visit all the old facilities; it was quite interesting to see Australia 150 years ago.

In Port Augusta, we stopped for a while to have our lunch. We prepared some sandwiches the day before. Not much later, we reached the outback. It’s quite an abrupt change from the crob area to the outback.

After nearly 400 km, we reached Woomera. We planned to stay there for one night in a caravan camping place, but it was closed. In Australia are still issues with the aborigines and their land. It’s always discussed to give land back to them; however, my feeling is that it’s all too late for this. Instead, they should try to have a good life together now.

We had to drive 6 km back to Pimba, where there is a place for Caravans to park. Not a good place to get tent pegs into the ground. Andrew managed it with ropes tightened the tent on a fence. It worked pretty well. Tomorrow morning, we will drive back to Woomera, where there is a rocket museum. This area was used for testing rockets. We will visit that maybe tomorrow. Hope we will have a better night.
