Buen Camino – 16 km – Sahagún
Just 16 km today to Sahagún. I started before 07:00. It was fresh and windy outside. In the beginning I didn’t know where to go. There are two options, one goes along the road, the other one in the fields. I was not the only one being confused. In the end I was on track, was even walking the old origin Camino route until it merged again with the other route. By the way I forgot my stick in the Albergue, was not meant to be mine.

Moratinos was the first village I came along. Had a coffee and some Tostada y Tomate. There I met Abby, a woman from Ohio, U.S.A. We walked and talked a while together. It was still early, the air was fresh, easy to walk this morning.

Beautiful environment this morning, the sunflowers, the smell of the broom.

Had a rest and some food here, bread, cheese, a pear. Then Patricia came along, She was in San Nicolas del Real Camino when I trespassed her. Sahagún was already in view. A short day for walking.

A warm welcome as usual in the Albergues from town or church. I have chosen my bed for tonight, then Patricia and I went to the post office. I sent a hoody and a pair of trousers to Santiago post office, every kilo countds on this Camino. In Spain you can send a parcel from one post office to another. Will pick it up when back from Finisterre. Patricia picked up her parcel … She will go back to Ireland tomorrow, picking a train here first from Sahagún.

Patricia, Eileen and I went for lunch then in town. Very good menu with ice cream in the end.
Not sure yet where I will walk tomorrow. Two different routs possible, have to see the distances, 14 km, 18 km, 30 km.
