Buen Camino – 24 km – León

Started walking before sunrise today. Still fresh, my hands were cold. Just walking in a T-Shirt as usual. 24 km today to León. The first 6-10 km I am walking always quite fast, then slowing down. Feels good to know that some part is already done.
This well and aqueduct is providing water for the corn. Corn needs a good amount of water.
Had another coffee here in Villasabariego
I was sitting on the bar for my café Americano, he just put a piece of cake with my coffee, very nice gesture. Back to the road. I met Donna from England and we walked together to León. Then we realised that we are in the same WhatsApp group, Brian arranged this group, Camino Friends 2023.
León is the capital of the province León, 478.000 inhabitants. Entering the city it’s still 30 min. to my Albergue. Donna and me found a nice place for a cool Aquarius drink. It’s very tasty with lemon or orange and contains electrolytes. Is quite important here not to get dehydrated.
Electrolytes are vital for living organisms (including the human organ complex) and their water balance. Electrolyte deficiency can thus lead to sometimes life-threatening heat damage and often occurs together with fluid deficiency, which in turn is often induced by diarrhoeal diseases.
I checked in, had a shower, washed some clothes, I am always doing hand washing here. Then a walk to Carrefour Express supermarket. Had some food in the Albergue kitchen.
Busy town here. Later I will meet Donna for some Tapas. On the way will check at Vodafone store for a Spanish SIM card. They are cheap here, €15 for 100 GB.
I had a nice Tapas dinner with Donna in a quiet place. A good gift to end the day.
