Roadtrip – 114 km – Talbingo><Tumut

After a relaxed night, we had a trip to Tumut today. Tumut is 40 km from Talbingo. Tumut is the town where Andrew grew up and lived until 1999. Around 7000 people live in Tumut. This town is quite alive. Andrew met some people here today on the road. He was looking for a barber, but wasn’t successful; one was too busy today, and another one had closed his shop. We stopped at a graveyard where Andrew’s parents and other friends were buried. We had a coffee in town, then we drove a little outside of town, where Andrew had his own farm with 200 sheep in earlier years.

Back in town, we visited a broommaker factory. These brooms are made from the stems of millet.

It’s still handmade. They have similar brooms in India; I am not sure what they are made of. We had some lunch in the Oriental before going shopping at Woolworths. We got some petrol before heading back towards Talbingo.

Back there, I tried to book a bus ticket from Chennai to Tiruvannamalai. To log in, you need to have an Indian phone number. My old number expired already, usually after 90 days. So I continued as a guest. I booked a bus seat, but in the end, when paying with Visa, I got an error that the booking was not successful. On my bank account, the Bank of India deducted €37 as a direct debit. Additionally, Redbus deducted €9.01 for the ticket, which is the price for it. I immediately cancelled the direct debit with my app and got the €37 back immediately. This is all strange. Later, I created an account with my Apple ID.

I had a nap for a while. When I woke up, Andrew was talking to his sister about the next day’s plans. We will stay here in Talbingo for three more nights before heading to Wagga Wagga at a friend’s place of Andrew’s. There we stay another three nights while Steven (brother) and Pauline, Lynette (sister) and Wayne will be in Talbingo.

Reminds me at Portugal
