Road trip – 424 km – Esperance

This morning we had a look at the ocean in Bremer Bay. The Devils Creek flows into the ocean here.

Absolutely beautiful water in this bay. We are heading towards Esperance today. It will be a 400 km drive. We are on the South Western Highway, Highway No. 1. Left and right of the road are mostly crop fields, barley or wheat. We had a stop in Ravensthorpe for a coffee and a pie. There are not many towns on the way around here.

When I left the Country Kitchen, I couldn’t see Andrew. He suddenly appeared at the door of a candy shop on the other side. I walked into the shop, and Andrew got two cones with a marshmallow for us. And I saw they have licorice in the shop. The lady behind the counter said it’s all salty Dutch licorice. I couldn’t resist and bought some sweet black stuff instead. I should have tested one before; it was not really licorice but something like fruit gummy candies.

After hours, we reached Esperance. Before the town, we saw a Bushland Caravan place. In town would be several more caravan and camping places. The first one was too big for us and pretty busy. Other ones were fully booked. We could get a cabin in one place, and I had already paid, but then the lady excused herself and said it’s not cleared or cleaned yet. They just took over the place two weeks ago. We were driving around, asking in hotels or calling them. There was nothing available. Back to Acclaim Pine Grove Holiday Park, where we have been before. Fortunately, we got a spot for our car and tent here. Other people reported to us later that they had the same issue. Tomorrow we will do a booking first before we go there, or we will stay some more days here.
