Road trip – 149 km – Orleans Bay
Our tent was quite close to the road, and it was a bit noisy at night. Some people are living in bungalows on this camping ground. There was early noise in the morning. I woke up at 06:00. We hadn’t decided yet what to do the next days. There is rain shown in the forecast for a few days. Andrew got an email reply that the Bushcamp is fully booked. He called the Orleans Bay Caravan Park, but it was still too early. Anyway, first some breakfast and a coffee. We walked towards the camping kitchen. The whole place will get an upgrade by the new owners, who just took it over. Then the lady from Orleans Bay Caravan Park called back. Andrew booked a Park Home for two nights.
We went shopping at Woolworths, stocking up our food for the next days. The next coffee would be needed. So we walked into the Dome, a fancy place to sit and have coffee.

We left Esperance for Lucky Bay. It would be around 60 km. The road was pretty empty and in good condition. Most roads are in good condition in Australia. We had to leave the main road and drive south to reach the ocean. And there was Lucky Bay, a stunning bay, with turquoise water. Because the water is shallow and the sand is white, it looks so turquoise.

Here is only one Camping Ground, no other infrastructure. It was worth coming here just to look at it. The beach feels here more like salt than sand. We had to drive back to the main road. It would be 60 km more to Orleans Bay. Suddenly, the asphalt ended, and we were driving on a dirty road again. Andrew deflated the tyres for a smoother drive. It wouldn’t take long, and we reached The Duke of Orleans Bay, the place where we would stay for two nights. The Bungalow is pretty simple, but we can cook and sleep here, for sure, overcharged. The beaches are nice here as well.

We saw a few kangooroos around, they seemed to be not very anxious but alert.
