Bom Caminho – 23 km – Anha

Leaving Hostel do Alto at 06:30

Another day starts for me. My plan is to reach Viana do Costelo in 27 km, but I will not get there. The ball of my feet are already getting hot, not too bad, but enough to walk carefully.

Sunrise at Rio Cavado

First I have to cross the bridge again and walk through Esposende. For a while the Caninho will be close to the ocean.

Just passing Marinhas

Stopping for a coffee, it is still fresh, not cold, outside. There is always a bit of wind in the morning hours.

208 km until Santiago

What I realise on this Caminho, it doesn’t have the same spirit as the Camino Francés, which I walked last year. Here it feels more just like a nice hiking trail. I didn’t walk the other Camino’s yet, but I truly believe that the Camino Francés is very special.

A lot of forest walk today

I love it to walk in forests, although here are many eucalyptus trees. Suddenly I heard the voice of motors. Here in the forest? Indeed three rally motorbikes came from the other direction. The smell of Gasoline for some moments.

Walking next to a river
Very chilling place

Sitting here at the river and eating something I felt very peaceful. One of the moments you wouldn’t change for anything 🥰

The ocean still in distance
The church was full on a Sunday mass

And then there was one of these places where you can eat and drink just by donation. The guy gave me a coffee and left. Here I saw also a flyer for Albergue Casa da Carolina, where I am now.

Walking to the right

When I reached Anha, I realised it’s still 1 hour 20 min. to Viana. Then I saw a sign for Albergue Casa da Carolina, just 500 meters. So I went there, rang the bell, the door opened, and I was in. I was lucky they still had beds without reservations. Super nice place here.

Cooling my feet

At 18:00 they are providing soup for 2 €. There is a café/bar closely down the road.

Enough for today!
