Buen Camino – 23 km – A Fraga Alta
Life moves on, whether or not we are part of it.
Starting at 07:00 in the morning with Andrew from our Albergue in Palas de Rei. It’s Sunday, the town still sleepy, some coffee shops already open. Time for the first coffee, I just love it. Pilgrims already everywhere on the road.

There are many pilgrims now on the road from Sarria to Santiago, we call them newbies. It’s easy to identify newbies. They have small backpacks, clean shoes and some are even perfumed.

On the way there was a van, I thought first it’s an ambulance, but it was the Guardia Civil, they were providing stamps for the pilgrims pass.

Was an easy day to walk, perfect weather, not too hot, just a little up and down. Meeting Luigi in a coffee shop. I met him before in La Faba, he was walking with bathing slippers because his shoes got stolen. He could by new ones after two days, shoe shops are not everywhere.

I did a prayer for Patricia here, so she can come back to the Camino, continue with her pilgrimage. I will do another one in Santiago to be sure it works 😇

What a difference being in a town, so many cars and noise. I realised that I didn’t use any transport since weeks, no car, no bus, no train.

At 15:30 we reached Fraga Alta. I have a booked a double room in Albergue Santiago. As we reached there Li En and Kitty just had a rest there. The house didn’t look very welcoming, I was a bit troubled. The guy from the bar looked as he is always eating the wrong food and drinking too much. But he said it’s not here but 20 meters from here in a rural house and the woman will show up in a minute. She came and guided us to her house, was around 100 meters to walk. And then we saw the house and the garden. We got the whole house for €45. Look at these photos, we were so happy with this.

Everything is clean and neat. Sitting in the garden and have a drink we got some visitors. Faith and Simone and the other U. S. women passed by and came in to relax for a while. Wonderful soft grass to lay down. They continue walking to Arzúa, 6 km more. We will have to do tomorrow.

Life is good!
