Buen descanso – 0 km – Santiago de Compostella
Sleeping until 08:00 this morning. Last night I was out for dinner. A Restaurant near the cathedral, sitting outside. We were around 10 people, some came, some left, amazing how many people are here arriving at the same day with me.
It’s 09:45, I am still in bed, got a coffee from the machine in the pension. Soon I will go with Andrew for some breakfast. At 12:00 will be the mass in the church.
It was a beautiful and very aesthetic mass in the cathedral. There were announcements in Spanish, German, French and English. The organ playing was impressive and a beautiful male voice was singing. The priest spoke in English, for me it was the right meditation. I was fortunate, they did the Botafumeiro, the swinging with incense.
I entered the big square again, met more people from the walk. It’s a great meeting point, a lot of sharing. Time to have some lunch with Camino friends.
Ana, the Spanish woman on the right, booked a room for two days in Santiago de Chile. She realised it yesterday when I met her. 🙃
Churreria is something fried with chocolate. Very delicious!
Back to the hotel. First in Vodafone shop, I showed my not working SIMcard. Yes, it was identified as not working but they couldn’t change it here. Always try a prepaid card immediately I learned. Resting a while in the pension, then I meet downtown some friends again.
Spent the evening with Camino friends for dinner. It’s so easy here to connect with people. There was a guy walking from Belgium, he finished his Camino in Santiago after 2400 km.
