Buen Camino – 21 km – Zubiri
I was quite recovered this morning. Ready to walk. 6 km or 21 km? When we left the monastery, around 08:00, Dennis the guy I was walking with yesterday, was waiting for me to say goodbye. He and his friend will stay one more night in Roncesvalles, They are planning to walk to Burgos, then take a bus to Santiago. Maybe I meet him somewhere on the Camino again.

It was easy to walk in the beginning. After 6 km we reached Espinal and had a little breakfast. It was just 10:00 and somehow I didn’t feel to stay the rest of the day there. The hostel would not open before 14:00 and what to do there, more walking? So we continued walking to Zubiri, 15 km more.

Walking mainly through forest. David went ahead, he is quite faster then me, we met again in Zubiri. The path got more and more difficult to walk, rocky and hard. My feet were the only problem today, I need better socks, they are too slippery, difficult and painful when walking downwards. It feels as if I get blisters.

After 7 hours I reached Zubiri, couldn’t hardly walk anymore. Dennis was two hours faster. He arranged already the beds in the hostel. Usually you cannot book for other people, but he said his friend is old and a bit sick and comes later, LOL that’s me.

Tomorrow we are heading to Pamplona. Guess I will need one ore two plasters for my feet before starting and getting better socks in Pamplona.
