Buen Camino – 23 km – A Guarda

Leaving Carreço

Wow, slowly the spirit is changing. It might be me or I am meeting the right people. When I left Albergue Casa do Sardão I was one of last leaving this morning. After a while in the forest a woman was behind me and we started chatting. Her name is Martina, from the Czech Republic.

It’s always nice walking in a forest

Quite steep up here

While chatting we lost two times the Caminho, but it was easy just to go ahead and back on track.

Martina’s idea was to cross Rio Minha today by ferry. I think it was a good idea, because in Spain it’s still 4 km to A Guarda, so I don’t have to walk it in the morning.

The church in Vila Praia da Âncora
Still in Vila Praia da Âncora

Here I also met Sammy, he is Kurdish and came as a teenager to Germany. His sleeping-bag got stolen and he was trying to find and buy another one.

Moledo-Fontela

A good chance to refresh in the ocean here. It was quite cold. Such a pleasure after the heat, the sun can be brutal when there’s no shade.

Spain on the other side

I didn’t know it’s our ferry, but for a few people absolutely sufficient.

Speed boot
Spain is close
165 km to Santiago

Some more kilometres through the forest and there was A Guarda Pilgrim Hostel. Enough beds were free. Very welcoming place, simple but clean, back to the Pilgrims standard 😀

Always good being close to a window

And now the journey through Galicia will start, it will be beautiful like last year.
