Whether doing the highest sadhana or very gross vyavahara, the Atma remains the same. Neither does the Atma gain anything through the highest spiritual practice nor does it lose anything through gross actions. Knowing this, continue your sadhana.

It’s just nice being here with Kabir and the others in Assagao. I can spend time learning Portuguese, which is still a difficult process for me, physics, or new concepts in programming software. I can also sit in the garden, drink chai, and listen to the birds (or to the noise of the house renovation from the neighbour).

At lunchtime, I left for Chapora. It’s a village just next to Vagator where the Chapora River flows into the Arabian Sea. Somehow there was unexpectedly not much traffic today. I reached Chapora, I am not sure if I remember much here, it must have been 45 years ago I have been here. We were six people and Jasny the four years old son of Gabi and Reinhard. We rent the backside of a house where an old Indian was living. There were two big rooms to rent, the water came from a well. We had to use a bucket on a chain to get the water up. We were just sleeping on matrasses inside the house or on the veranda. It was around October 1980.

I was eating a Thali in Chapora, then continued driving towards the sea.

I was just driving and looking around. Then I saw a sign indicating the Chapora Fort. So I went up there.

The fort changed hands several times after the Portuguese acquired Bardez. Trying to end the Portuguese rule in Goa, the Marathas in 1683 made this place his base camp. It became the northern outpost of the Old Conquests. After the Portuguese recovered from an encounter with the Marathas, they strengthened their northern defenses and provided shelter to the people there.

On the way back I was buying some mosquito repellant spray. Good to use at dusk, when the mosquitos wake up, for the wrists and ankles.
