The Self
If everything were perfect in this world, nobody would seek God or Self. Because the world is imperfect, we seek perfection which is God or Self.
As I was not very successful yesterday at the optician’s to buy new glasses, Kabir offered to come with me to the optician. He wanted to go shopping in Mapusa today. So we started around 10:00 with his bike and my scooter. It takes 15-20 min. to get there, and it depends on the traffic, which can be quite chaotic in India. But traffic can be chaotic in any country. We went into the optician’s shop and Kabir talked to the salesman. There were two more people working today. Yesterday the young salesman was alone in the shop. An Indian lady came with me next door where the reception is located. She talked to another woman behind the counter and told me to go into another room. I opened the door and there was the optician. She tested my eyes with different instruments to determine the visual acuity of my eyes, standard procedure. She seemed to be very professional. This all just needed 20 minutes. When this was done I could go back with my prescription to the optician.
Now I had to choose the frame for my new glasses. She showed me different models from different brands, similar to my old glasses. In the end, I decided on the Oakley frame. The next step was to choose the kind of glasses, Carl Zeiss lenses, wide reading area, and self-tinting lenses (photochromic lenses), which adapt to the current lighting conditions. The lady will call me in around six days to pick them up. I am curious how it will feel with them. My old glasses are more than seven years old now.
On the way back I stopped at a supermarket to buy some cheese, papaya, and another fruit whose name I don’t know yet.
In the afternoon I was just working on our app, had a nap as usual, and enjoyed myself. Kabir was later cooking something delicious with mushrooms, rice, and beetroot salad. I love beetroots.
