Again in the airplane. After 10 hours waiting in Hangzhou, a 10-hour flight to Melbourne. The flight was scheduled to depart at 07:00, but we actually took off at 08:20. I thought I would miss my connection from Melbourne to Adelaide at 07:00. Another issue could be my surname again. While checking in Melbourne, the staff mentioned that my name for the Australian Visa is Bohler while my name in the passport is Böhler or Boehler.

I was lucky, the lady next to me went to another seat, so I had two seats and could lie down and sleep for four hours. Now it was time to watch another movie. On my first flight, I was watching “The Flash” and “Passengers”, while this time, “Red Notice” and “Heart of Stone”. We reached Melbourne just before 07:00 instead of 05:00, so my connection to Adelaide was gone for sure. It was at sunrise.

The time difference from Lisbon to Melbourne is 9 hours. I left the airplane and tried a terminal for ePassports. But somehow it said this service is not available for me at this time. It worked for the Chinese. I sent Andrew a message that I would come on a later plane. So I headed to the immigration desk. I was hoping that there would be no issue with my name mismatch. But somehow it was all easy; the guy scanned my passport, and I could pass. There was another check for the goods you bring to Australia, but also there I didn’t have any issues. Then I headed to the baggage claim and picked up my luggage.

At the service center, I asked where to proceed to domestic departures. Caused by a delay, I missed my Jetstar flight to Adelaide. At Terminal 4 was a Jetstar counter. I could buy a new ticket for AUD 90 (€50). The plane would take off at 09:40. I got a boarding card and checked in my luggage at a self-service terminal. It was time to pass the security and have a coffee. The plane took off in time.

I was really happy to have reached Adelaide in the end. From Lisbon it took me 36 hours. Andrew was waiting for me at the arrival already.

Andrew and I leaving Adelaide airport

We drove straight to a shopping center where I could get an eSIM from Telstra. Ready for the Internet. We stopped at a nice Restaurant, “The Green Room”, for vegetarian food. There we met Diana, a nice lady and Andrew’s real estate agent. We had some lunch and continued driving to a grocery shop. We got some food for a few days. The plan is to start our six-week tour on Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s a beautiful countryside here.

Andrew lives in Clayton Bay now, a small town with some hundreds of inhabitants. I had a sleep for two hours, which was needed. If I am lucky, I will have a good sleep at night, not dealing with jet lag. We had some dinner here and a lot of talks.
